Most license processes (applications, renewals, transfers, reactivations, etc) have moved to the new eLicense LPI Portal.

You can watch a 2-minute introduction to the new system here.

Please note: Paper applications will no longer be accepted for processes available in the new system, including any applications or fees submitted in person at the Customer Service Center. If an application is available in the eLicense LPI Portal, it must be completed online. Paper applications mailed before go-live will still be reviewed.

Now is the time to get set up in the eLicense LPI Portal. The first step is creating an OHID (you may already have one from the BMV or Department of Taxation). After creating an OHID, existing licenses can be linked to the account. Select the appropriate prompt below to get started.

I don’t have an OHID:

Follow the steps to create one here. If you need assistance creating your OHID, a step-by-step guide can be found here, or you can call the OHID help desk at 614-644-OHID (8am-5pm). After creating your OHID, return to https://lpi.elicense.ohio.gov and enter your OHID credentials to log in. Then proceed to the next prompt below.

I’ve already created an OHID:

Follow the steps to link your existing license to your OHID account here.

You will be asked for your full license number, effective date, and expiration date. You can find this information by searching in the License Lookup from our previous system.

Try searching by your first and last name only. The necessary information is highlighted below. You will need the License Prefix (SAL, BRKP, BRKA for example) AND A DOT before your license number. NOTE: If you have an old six-digit license number, do not type in the four zeros before your number.

I linked my license to my OHID—now how do I learn the new system?

You can find a navigation video here and a step-by-step guide to many processes here
