Ohio Salesperson License Transfer Guide (New eLicense LPI System)

Step 1: Login via OHID

The state now requires an OHID for all licensing transactions.

➡️ Access the Portal: Go to lpi.elicense.ohio.gov.

➡️ Credentials: Log in with your OHID. If you do not have one, you must create it at ohid.ohio.gov before you can proceed.

➡️ Link License: If this is your first time in the new system, you may be prompted to "Claim" or link your existing license to your OHID.

Step 2: Start the Transfer Application

➡️ On your personal Dashboard, look for the Online Services or More Actions tab.

➡️ Select Sales License Transfer from the menu.

➡️ Click Start and then Next after reviewing the instructions.

Step 3: Ethical Conduct & Documents

➡️ You must answer a series of ethical questions.

➡️ Critical: If you answer "Yes" to any question, you must upload a letter of explanation.

Step 4: Add the New Brokerage

When the system asks for the brokerage you are moving to:

➡️ Enter in Commonwealth Referral Brokerage or

➡️ Enter License Number: REC.2023001130.

➡️ Once the brokerage appears, click YES to confirm affiliation.

Step 5: Attestation and Payment

➡️ Signature: Sign the application by typing your full name and the date.

➡️ Invoice: Select Add to Invoice to proceed to the payment screen.

➡️ Fee: The standard transfer fee is $34 (this fee is non-refundable).

Step 6: Broker Certification

After you submit, the transfer remains in "Pending" status. The Principal Broker of the new firm must log into their own portal account to certify and accept your transfer before your license becomes active with them.

I don’t have an OHID:

Follow the steps to create one here. If you need assistance creating your OHID, a step-by-step guide can be found here, or you can call the OHID help desk at 614-644-OHID (8am-5pm). After creating your OHID, return to https://lpi.elicense.ohio.gov and enter your OHID credentials to log in. Then proceed to the next prompt below.

I’ve already created an OHID:

Follow the steps to link your existing license to your OHID account here.

You will be asked for your full license number, effective date, and expiration date. You can find this information by searching in the License Lookup from our previous system. Try searching by your first and last name only. The necessary information is highlighted below. You will need the License Prefix (SAL, BRKP, BRKA for example) AND A DOT before your license number. NOTE: If you have an old six-digit license number, do not type in the four zeros before your number.

I linked my license to my OHID—now how do I learn the new system?
